{Christian Thomas} My Sweet Nephew / Newborn Baby Boy Photography

I may be a little bit biased with this one. Meet my sweet nephew, Christian. ❤️

I loved every second of snuggling him during his newborn photo session.  It was a family affair; all crammed into my studio to watch him sleep as I moved him from pose to pose.

Per his daddy’s request, we made sure his session was totally boyish, using blues, grays, and browns and incorporating my little wooden bed, red wagon, stuffed teddy bear, and tiny football.

It was perfect.  And so is he.

Christian’s Story (as told by his daddy):

Expecting Christian:  “Amanda told me she took a test. We scheduled a doctor’s appt. To confirm. First people we called were our parents. Sent out text messages also. No special story I guess.”

Pregnancy cravings: “Amanda craved a lot of bacon. Bacon anything. But didn’t like any other meat. Period. Just bacon. She went thru what seemed to be a sugar rush of eating a lot of candy.”

Eventful moments during the pregnancy: “The event that sticks out the most is finding out the sex. I cried a lot.”

Naming Christian: “I always wanted my first son to have my father’s name as his middle name. I’ve thought about that since middle school. I love my father very much. He inspired me. Motivated me. Confuses me. Frustrates me. But he has always been there. I know I can count on him more than any other person.”

“Picking a name was hard.  Our last name doesn’t really flow well.  I was looking for a strong, athletic name. Not really sure how we came up with Christian but it was just said one day. I dunno. I was probably watching something on TV that had to do with sports. Don’t remember. We both agreed it sounded strong to us.”

First moment meeting Christian: “Neither of us knew what to do but cry. As soon as we heard his cry, neither of us could hold it together. It was a little nerve racking to me seeing Amanda on the table, strapped down, throwing up….it was kind of scary. Definitely not at all what I had always imagined. Amanda had a huge smile and was so in love. I had too many emotions going on to relax but I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and joy when he was all cleaned up.”

First thing we noticed: “Hair. That’s the biggest thing. And he has my nose and mouth. I thought he looked just like his great grandpa Joe when he came out.”

The moments I never want to forget: “I love the way he looks at me when I talk to him. He looks right into my eyes and doesn’t move. And when you feed him, he bobs his head around real quick trying to hurry the bottle in his mouth while his eyes are closed and his mouth wide open. I don’t ever want to forget what his baby, smile face looks like.”

“Tummy time on my chest is something I’ll always cherish. The way he looks up at me and focuses and then they way he just relaxes completely and lays on me.”

Cute things Christian does:  “He makes a grrrr noise when you annoy him, lol.”
