Most times, my newborn clients have scheduled their baby’s newborn photography session well in advance of their baby’s arrival. This way, they are sure to have their baby’s due date scheduled and secured on my calendar well before the insanely crazy days leading up to, and after their baby’s arrival. It’s nice to have the session planned and squared away while there’s still time! Once the baby arrives, it’s usually a whirlwind; those first few weeks fly by, and before you know it, the ideal newborn time frame is lost!
While it’s the norm that most clients plan their sessions in advance, that’s not always the case…and that’s okay too! Quite often, I’ll have newborn clients call or email at the last minute…either just days away from their due date, or after their baby has already arrived and they realize they don’t want to miss having precious newborn photos of their new little one! Ellie’s mom called me when Ellie was just days old. She’d had a mishap with the photographer she’d chosen, which left her scrambling around and worried! Ellie’s grandma stepped in to help out, and went in search of photographers! She came across my website, liked my work, and sent my info along to Ellie’s mom, who called me right away! Though it can often be quite tricky for my schedule, I absolutely love it when clients call last minute, and if I’m able to, I’ll absolutely bend over backwards to try to accommodate a session! It’s fun for me, and exciting to welcome a baby I wasn’t expecting into my studio! I consider it such a pleasant surprise, and I am always ecstatic when I’m able to make room! Fortunately, I was able to arrange for Ellie’s session right away, and on her 5th day, we photographed her in all her chunky, adorable, perfect little newborn wonder. But guess what? That wasn’t all! Ellie’s mom loved my outdoor newborn photos so much, we also scheduled an outdoor session! Later that evening, we met back up and had an amazing outdoor session at sunset!
