One of the first things I’m always excited about when I begin working with a new family is to hear their new bundle’s name! Most times my parents know in advance, sometimes they don’t, and occasionally they are keeping it a surprise. It’s one of the first questions I ask, and I’m always excited to hear. Bestowing a name on a child is a huge decision, and it’s always interesting to hear where their baby’s name comes from, any special history associated with it, and the story of how they went about choosing it. I’m keeping a little mental tally of the names of the babies I’ve photographed, and I’m always excited to add a new one to my list.
This little bundle was my first Lilou. Lilou is a popular French name, which translates to Lily. How cute, and so unique! I met up with Lilou’s family on a warm summer day for her newborn photography session. While we were able to do the usual cozy poses, it was also exciting to photograph some of Lilou’s newborn portraits outdoors in the shady, ivy covered corner of the yard.
