Mahira’s newborn photo session was all about purple, lots and lots of pretty purple. With a touch of pink. She was sleepy at the beginning of her newborn session, and then woke up at the end. I’m so happy we were able to capture those awake moments as her big beautiful eyes took in the world around her.
Mahira’s Story…
Expecting Mahira: Mahira was a surprise pandemic baby! We were thinking about having a baby in 2022 after hopefully COVID pandemic was controlled. But, end of Jan 2021 I (the mom) had a sixth sense about something (feeling really tired and craving sweets) and decided to take a pregnancy test. The 1st persons to find out was Aadhya (our older daughter) and Anand, when I came out of the bathroom. Anand and I were in shock/surprise and Aadhya was screaming with happiness. Parents and Friends were like ‘About time’ with baby 2 since Aadhya was already turning 5 in 2021.
During pregnancy: Uneventful and pretty chill pregnancy for mom! Parenting a 5-year-old during a pandemic is already stressful and tiring so this baby decided to make mommy’s life easy by making it an easy pregnancy for the most part. The 1st half of pregnancy was mostly nausea driven days for mom though. Thankfully that subsided around week 20.
Pregnancy cravings: I had a lot of fruits and drank a lot of milk during this pregnancy! Also a LOT of Paneer Biryani (an Indian delicacy)
Naming Mahira: Mahi means love. Mahira (her full name) means ‘Extremely Talented’. We hope she lives up to her name and does some good in this world! Dad and older daughter’s name start with A. Mom name starts with M so baby 2 name had to start with M (to complete our family). Hence the name Mahira or Mahi (at home).
First moments: In the hospital in the operation room. She looked tall and beautiful. Couldn’t take my eyes off her and was in awe of how much she looks like her older sister. We couldn’t wait for her to get cleaned up to hold her close to me!
First thing we noticed: She has a LOT of hair like her mom. She was very beautiful and she has gorgeous eyes!
Favorite features: Her eyes, lips and cute button nose. Her fingers are lot like mom (long with strong nail game).
Favorite moments: When I hold her in my arms and she looks at me like ‘where is the food lady”. Her sister dotes over her and all the times that Aadhya is being loving to Mahi is when I feel like little bouts of heaven! Like they will take care of each other always!
Adorable things she does: Mahi smiles a lot in her sleep and she is generally a very calm baby (other than when she needs food). She seems like an opposite of her older sister (who is adorably called ‘Hurricane Aadhya’ at home).
“She makes our family complete. She was the missing piece and we have two beautiful girls and we can’t wait to see them make a change in this world.”
