What a handsome little man! We planned this little guy’s newborn photos at the last minute, and the results couldn’t be any cuter!
Riaan’s Story…
Sharing the news: We were living on the West Coast at the time, and due to the pandemic, travel was limited, so we had to be creative! We made surprise boxes for both sets of the grandparents-to-be as well as our siblings. In the box, we had a framed picture of the first ultrasound with a Congratulations message as well as a little kit to prep them for the upcoming delivery including: baby shoes, pacifier and a baby book! We had them open the boxes at one time on zoom where we were able to see their reaction…it was truly priceless!
Pregnancy moments: The first time Riaan’s maternal uncle-to-be felt Riaan kick, we all saw a shooting star while star gazing! It was truly a magical moment.
Pregnancy cravings: Chocolate and anything sweet! Mom to be always preferred savory over sweet, but man oh man, the sweet cravings are intense!
Naming Riaan: Riaan means ‘Little King’ in Sanskrit. We both are so proud of our Indian heritage and growing up here, we want to be intentional about passing down some of that culture.
Meeting Riaan: After a very long labor and several speed bumps towards the end of the delivery, when the pediatric team handed Riaan over to us – we were overjoyed! Our moms had let us know that when you see your baby, you’ll forget the pain and labor process – and we used to shake our heads – but it indeed is so true.
First thing we noticed: His hair and his expressions! We knew he was going to have some hair from the ultrasounds, but he was born with a full head of hair! And, my goodness, Riaan’s expressions are amazing. Whether its hunger, excitement or just plain hanging out, he is so expressive!
Favorite features: There are so many little things, but a few that standout that we don’t want to forget are his big beautiful eyes. When he’s fully awake, he tends to look around the room, exploring and observing everything! His hands and toes are the cutest ever! And we cannot forget out the droopy cheeks! He was born on the tinier side, but his cheeks are just precious!
Favorite moments: Baby Riaan lets out the cutest sighs after doing the hard work of feeding, sneezing, and going to the bathroom! It’s the cutest little sigh and it melts our hearts every time we hear it.
Personality traits: Patience! This kiddo has been so patient with us as first time parents. If we don’t have the bottle ready or we take a few extra minutes to get out of bed at night, we find him just hanging out, entertaining himself in his bassinet!
