Harper’s momma contacted me in the late spring to set up a newborn session for the baby girl she was expecting in July. We chatted about what she had in mind for her baby’s photography session. She knew she wanted to incorporate textures, colors, and earthy props…and nothing too girly or frilly. I was excited about the ideas we discussed.
Early summer flew by, and before too long Harper made her arrival, welcoming herself to the world almost a week past her due date. We set up her newborn session that next week, on her 10th day. Like many of my excited clients, Harper’s mom had went a little crazy on Etsy while pregnant, and had chosen a bunch of adorable accessories for her baby girl. While I have an enormous collection of props, accessories, headbands, bonnets, blankets, wraps, baskets available for use in the studio, occasionally my parents choose to bring along special things they’ve purchased just for their baby. While it’s not necessary (I have tons to use!), it’s always lots of fun for me to plan the session around special and carefully chosen props! Harper’s mom didn’t disappoint…she brought along SO many adorable things to use…beautiful floral headbands, a colorful romper, a soft and fuzzy kitty cat bonnet, and a bright orange fox hat. We used everything she’d brought, and then a bunch of my studio props as well. Harper only woke once during the session, ironically enough, it was while she was carefully tucked in my wooden bed. So, instead of sleeping in the cozy little bed, she proceeded to look up at me with her big, beautiful and curious eyes. So glad she opened her eyes for a few shots…those images were adorable! She was such a cute baby, with her chunky little body, big round eyes, and chubby cheeks!

Harper’s Story…
“We were so excited to share the news with our family! Just after Christmas, we gathered everyone together for a vacation in Florida, and while they each grandmother received a belated Christmas gift with a tiny quail egg inside. Once cracked open, there was a note that read “Baby Coe due to hatch July 2016.”
Pregnancy cravings: Anything chocolate or ice cream related…baby must have a sweet tooth!
“Harper’s name means pleasant and brave, and had a Scottish origin (just like our last name). Alliston was the middle name of a great grandmother. We wanted something unique and strong sounding.”
“The moment I first met her was awe-inspiring, joyous, miraculous, and grateful. Our prayers had definitely been answered…and then some!”
The first thing I noticed: “Her beautiful lips!”
Favorite Features: “Her beautiful big eyes and strong little spirit. How can we pick one thing when we love everything about her!?”
Favorite moments with Harper:
-rocking her to sleep on the porch with the birds chirping in the background
-baby cooing while in daddy’s arms
-the pride seen in her daddy’s eye
-how one little baby brings a family together
Her personality traits and adorable things she does: “She already holds her pacifier, and she scrunches up her little bottom in the air during tummy time.”
Something I never want to forget “All her precious little firsts”.
