I was so excited to photograph Kalyn’s session! I’d already met her mom and dad during their fall maternity session while she was still in her momma’s belly, and had such a great time working with them.
After a long wait and lots of planning, Kalyn finally made her arrival in late November, and we scheduled her newborn session for her 10th day.

We had so many cute looks planned for her, but the one I was most excited about was one that might take the cake for my most elaborate newborn setup to date. We planned to photograph Kalyn in a beautiful bed of flowers. Kalyn’s mom and grandma (who does floral design) worked together to gather a huge collection of luxurious purple flowers just for her newborn session. After meticulous placement of each bloom, we snuggled Kalyn right into them. She seemed to love it, even flashing me a couple smirky smiles. It was everything I’d envisioned. A secret little garden, created just for Kalyn.
“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.”

We did lots of other adorable looks too…including a Christmas themed photo with a little lighted Christmas tree. Adorable!!! Love the variety we were able to capture.

Kalyn’s Story:
Sharing the news of Kalyn’s arrival: “We told our family on Mother’s Day that we were expecting in November. We bought a picture frame with my nephew’s picture on one side and our ultrasound sound picture on the other side with a message that said can’t wait to meet you in November.”
Pregnancy Cravings: “No specific cravings. Did have food aversions and couldn’t eat anything sweet.”
Naming Kayln: “My paternal grandmother named all of her 5 kids with “K” names and my parents carried on the tradition with my sister and I. We hadn’t decided on a name for her until after she arrived. The tradition carries on with her name!”
First thing we noticed: “Her big blue eyes.”
Favorite things: “She makes the sweetest cooing noises like a little mouse and the giggles that she lets out during nap time. She likes to suck her thumb which she started doing soon after birth.”View Kalyn’s adorable gallery of newborn portraits below…
