I met up with this gorgeous couple for their late summer maternity photography session on a beautiful late August evening. Their glowing love, the late summer flower fields, the sunset lighting, it was all perfection. I was so excited to capture this moment in their pregnancy as they awaited the arrival of their sweet baby girl.
Due Date: October 18, 2020
Finding out about the pregnancy: We had been trying for months after losing our first baby girl last year due to a preterm delivery and just met with a fertility specialist, and to our surprise, I took a test early in the morning before we had the planned fertility workup and it was positive!
Sharing the pregnancy news with family: We surprised them on Valentines day with this sign and onesie.
Hearing the first heartbeat: Ecstatic and almost in tears – it was real!
Boy, girl, or surprise? A girl
Gender reveal: Because of covid we filmed us letting off surprise gender reveal cannons.
Nursery theme: It is baby jungle animal themed/neutral.
First purchase related to the baby: A baby book to record our pregnancy and keep our ultrasounds.
Pregnancy cravings: Eggs and avocado toast
Pregnancy moments: Every Sunday when the week we are in pregnancy advances, we have a mini celebration and read all of the updates and enjoy a nice breakfast together. We have also enjoyed reading books to her in the evening, and at work I have been taking walks with her and reflecting on how lucky we are.
Hard parts of pregnancy: Not having her dad come to some of the big milestone ultrasounds due to Covid was hard, especially the anatomy ultrasound, as that was the last ultrasound I had before losing our previous baby and going alone was scary.
Final thoughts: We just feel incredibly lucky and grateful for our healthy pregnancy, and actually thankful for some of the time we have gotten back on our weekends together due to plans being cancelled with covid.
