THIS family. ❤ So sweet, and absolutely beautiful! I met them several years ago when they’d inquired about a family photography session. While my main focus is newborn photography (with some senior girl photo sessions throughout the summer and fall), I do occasionally enjoy working with children and families too. After a wonderful conversation, I was so excited to meet and photograph their family of three. We had a wonderful session, and delighted with the outcome of her photos, one of the last things this momma said to me was that she couldn’t wait to call me again for pregnancy and newborn photos when the time came.
Fast forward about 2 years, I opened my email one morning to find her name in my inbox. I knew right away, and was so excited! They were expecting baby number two!
Due in early February, we decided to plan their maternity photography session for December, with hopes of a beautiful snowy day. Michigan weather can be crazy, so we knew we’d have to be a little flexible with our timing! We spent some time chatting about outfits and making final decisions so that they’d look picture perfect for their family maternity session!
December arrived, giving us a beautiful blanket of thick snow. It was a winter wonderland! I did some scouting for the perfect location, and found the perfect spot almost literally in my own backyard! While it was quite chilly (or shall I say freezing cold), we made sure to spend lots of time warming up.
With the landscape covered in a blanket of freshly fallen snow, we used a beautiful area with towering pines, branches laden with heavy white snow, and then finished with a festive crab tree adorned with hundreds of red and gold Christmas ornaments. It was was all a perfect match to compliment their outfits, creating the perfect winter maternity session.
